From religion, to the new World Trade Center Movie, from Alaska to South America to Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Sudan and Indonesia, Hitchens and Hugh embark on one of their legendary extended visits.
In a very candid, wide-ranging interview, the top military commander in the Middle East, Central Asia and the Horn of Africa discusses conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan, plus also talks about interference from Iran and Syria, and describes the nature of our enemy.
Centcom Commander, General John Abizaid, joined Hugh for a wide-ranging look at the state of the global war on terror, and the nature of the enemy we face around the globe.
This hour, with exception to a call-in from Yoni Tidi on the Israeli-Hezbollah issue, was devoted to callers, including a lot of nutters, who were reacting to the John Abizaid interview from the first hour.
This hour featured a encore of the General John Abizaid interview from the first hour, and some closing thoughts about a couple of pranksters in Arizona that decided to release snakes in a theater showing Snakes On A Plane.
Hugh started the hour out discussing the impact of Oliver Stone’s new movie, WTC. Hugh saw it this weekend, and was very impressed. Listeners had mixed reactions.
Hugh covered the news of the day, and was joined by write-in Congressional candidate to replace Tom Delay, Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier, and Yoni Tidi on the growing anger in Israel at the Olmert administration.
This was was a mix between the callers, and audio of the day, including the president’s press conference, CNN’s Jack Cafferty confirming the assumption he’s the most clueless political analyst on television, Oliver Stone’s thinking process in making WTC, and Chris Matthews claiming how independent he thinks he is.
