I appreciate Duane’s reminders that the candidates are human, though we want some kind of superhuman to run the country.

I was particularly interested in the Rubio speech. At times Rubio sounds and acts presidential. At others, he is like the rest of us and get seduced by our politician du jour. In Rubio’s case, he was seduced first by McCain, Graham and Ayotte (herself seduced by McCain and Graham to adopt foreign policy chops) and then he got a lot of attaboys by Chuck Schumer and the Dem side of the Gangs of 8.

I can see the seduction; I may not have fallen for that one, but there are many other examples where I have myself been seducted. HOWEVER, when electing a President, shouldn’t that candidate already have been battle tested? In other words, shouldn’t he have been hardened up a little before running for President. Why do we have to elect presidents on promise and not success? Obama- whole bunch of dope and hope. Shouldn’t Rubio be sent back to the practice squad till he can get his chops?

In the above paragraph, I didn’t mention the particulars of the seduction; only the effects. So, how can we trust Rubio not to be seduced as President like Obama was with Putin and the MoBros?
