    I know I’m not the only person who knew from the start that Obamacare was just a first step towards many Democrats’ goal of a single-payer system. Some Democrats even said so openly, before and immediately after passage.

    And, perhaps most important, whether Obamacare succeeds big or fails big, it could be used as “proof” that single-payer is really the necessary end result.

    Obamacare succeeds: See, it works! So we should go all the way to single-payer.

    Obamacare fails: See, it wasn’t enough! So what we really need is single-payer.
