Nothing like an energized CPL to lift the spirits. I think you should have had her on election day and after. Would have broken up the broken white men in the studio.

When we were predicting a Romney landslide, I was wondering if CPL would recover. One of the schticks I always liked was her take on fellow Harvard Law Review alum- BObama.

O won, so it looks CPL still has material. Except, I doubt that is what she wanted.

CPL has a great radio voice like Guy Benson.

CPL’s great radio voice? Is that why her “pilot” show a few weeks back, went nowhere? Meanwhile, every window in my place suddenly had cracks in them.

        Nice. And sexist, too.

“Pilot show” went nowhere? What does that mean? Are there that many openings for talk shows that if one doesn’t get picked up, it means what? It is a tough field to get into and make money for the station. And have you followed up with CPL on where her next venture is going? Pray tell, where is that going to be?

All I know, at Townhall Tipsheet immediately after the election, CPL was out there writing while the majority were either on vacation or somewhere else. Her energy was outstanding when we were all in the doldrums.

On this show, she was uplifting. I am glad Hugh is able to get her on his show and I wish he had her in the studio the day before, the day of and the day after the election for her insights into one BHO.

Writing is not talking. Maybe her writing is fine. And it’s not sexist, either. John Campbell’s radio voice can also cut glass, at least the way he’s mic’d/EQ’d/whatever when he’s in Hugh’s studio.

The “pilot” business, for her “radio show for women,” was scheduled for days when Hugh was out of town, specifically July 17 and 18th, and maybe the 19th as well, I don’t remember for sure. But based on what Duane said on his Aftershow, the reaction was not positive.

I don’t know if it was just the “chat room” (I don’t go there during the show) or if he maybe got some panicked “WHAT IS THIS?” calls from affiliates or whatever too. But instead of the second “pilot” of the women show on the 18th, there was a Hugh “Best Of” show, and a different guest host was in on the 19th.

        • Kerry Davis says

There are no page numbers in the radio show “history” section, and no way to skip 10 pages, etc. So it took a while to next-page all the way back to July.

“H1: 07/17/12 Anne Sorock, Kimba Langas
July 17, 2012 by Hugh Hewitt Radio Show

07171201 Hugh Hewitt: Hour 1 – Guest host Carol Platt Liebau talks womens issues as a pilot for a new talk show.”

There’s your “pilot” right there. It was described as such at the time, and was originally going to be 2 or 3 days. But the next day was instead a “Best Of” replay beginning with:

          “H1: 07/18/12 Daniel Silva
July 18, 2012 by Hugh Hewitt Radio Show

07181201 Hugh Hewitt: Hour 1 – Hugh begins a two hour interview with novelist Daniel Silva, author of the brand new thriller in the Gabriel Alon series, The Fallen Angel.”

There’s a bit of a “memory hole” effect on the site, since once the “pilot” was not going to be over 2 or 3 days as originally planned, the future mentions of it just disappeared. But it was there, and it was going to be 2 or 3 days.

Near the end of the July 17th Aftershow, Duane thanked everyone who “put up with” the CPL show. “I know. Believe me, I know.” He may have meant it for just the men, but I took it to be more general.
